Oxford Road Seafront Shelter Completed

The seafront shelter opposite Oxford Road, Frinton on Sea is now fully restored.  The work was 50% funded by the Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund.  The restoration, as usual now, is to a very high standard and the shelter is probably looking better than it has done for a hundred years.  Do have a look if you are nearby.  Work starts soon on the similar shelter opposite Garden Court.

New Footway to Children’s Play Area, Gt. Holland

Gt. Holland Resident’s Associaion saw a need to provide a surfaced footway to the children’s play area on the village green.  The proposal was welcomed and endorsed by the Town Council, Tendring District Council and Essex County Council.  The Residents’ Association obtained an “Awards for All” grant and the Town Council and the District Council made substantial financial contributions.  The County Council provided the materials.  Work is now complete and it is hoped that parents with children in pushchairs will notice an improvement next time they take their children to the play area.

Bus Shelter Refurbishment

Keen students of bus shelter architecture will have noticed that many of the shelters in the Town’s area are being repaired.  All 17 are now in the ownership of the Town Council (that is, all of them except the ones carrying advertising).  Many have suffered vandalism, others are just showing signs of wear.  We are especially pleased with this restoration at the entrance of historic Walton on the Naze.
