Allotments Update April 2014

The Town Council maintains three allotment sites.  All are productive, well maintained and sociable.

Unusually we now have a few spare allotments plots and shorter lists at all sites, so if you would like to be considered for a plot then just enquire at the Town Council Offices to see what is available.  Fresh vegetables and keeping fit at the same time!

Please telephone the Town Council Offices for further information (01255) 676666

Walton Market Update April 2014

In an effort to improve the Market the Town Council have employed a Market Development Officer to increase the number and variety of stalls.  A survey has been undertaken to find out the type of stalls people would like to see on the market site and what would encourage them to visit.

The Walton on the Naze Town Market currently operates every Thursday throughout the year and seasonally on Mondays during the summer.  The popular Market now has the added benefit of being held on selected Saturdays during the summer.  2014 sees the start of this Saturday  trial for Walton.  If we are all able to support this and make it the success it deserves we could see this extended.

Jubilee Celebrations

To commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the Town Council of Frinton and Walton presented Jubilee mugs to primary school children in the Towns area.  Also the Town Council in conjunction with local organisations produced a programme of events over the four day bank holiday which celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  The Programme was provided to local residents of the Town Council area and it was hoped that it was kept as a souvenir.

Precept 2009/2010

The Precept is the amount of money the Town Council asks the District Council to collect from Council Tax payers to pay for the operation of the Town Council for the forthcoming year.  For 2009/2010 the Precept is £382,957.  This equates to a Band “D” Council Tax of approximately £46.55 for the year.  This represents a decrease of 11.26% on the previous year.  The reduction has been achieved, firstly, because a number of “one-off” projects have been carried out during the previous year and will not be repeated and, secondly, a number of minor reductions have been made and some projects extended leading, cumulatively, to a substantial decrease in Precept.
